The Boston-area welcomed a new restaurant this past weekend! Comedor, an American-Chilean restaurant focusing on small plates, creative cocktails and craft beers, officially opened in Newton Centre this Saturday, October 4, according to their Facebook post (below). The restaurant also informed us that they had two soft openings the week before.

Comedor is owned by husband and wife team, Jakob and Fernanda White, who successfully funded the launch of their restaurant via Kickstarter this past August.

According to the Kickstarter, the name of the restaurant translates to “dining room” in Spanish and will be a mix of both American and Chilean influenced fare. The owners state on the Kickstarter page:

“Comedor will be a collaboration of both of their cultural backgrounds, using Jake’s creative approach to American cuisine and Fernanda’s clever use of Chilean flavors and spices.”

Comedor took to Kickstarter on August 3 for a 25-day campaign lasting through August 28, 2014. The restaurant managed to surpass their goal of 25K, raising $25, 160.

If you’re interested in dining at Comedor, the restaurant is located at 105 Union Street in Newton. For more information on the menu and to make reservations, check their website here.
