French bakery-cafe, PAUL, will open in Somerville’s Assembly Row on Friday, November 21, according to a release. This new PAUL location will make Boston the third city in the U.S. to gain the bakery chain, which currently has 600 bakeries in 34 countries. This is also the first Boston-area PAUL to open.

According to a release, the 2,435 sq. ft. bakery-cafe will feature a table seating area for 40 guests as well as a 6-seat coffee bar. The cafe will be lined with high-top tables and plush club chairs. The walls will be adorned with vintage French campaign posters featuring bread (of course).

The bakery-cafe known for its bread will make baguettes daily with organic, locally sourced flour. PAUL will also feature sandwiches like the PAUL Mixte, a French classic sandwich made with butter, ham, Swiss cheese and our signature baguettine.

There will also be plenty of pastries to choose from. The impressive Patisserie selection will include cakes, tarts, macarons, Napoleons, Pain au Chocolats and more.

Currently, there is a second PAUL bakery in the works in Boston’s Downtown Crossing neighborhood. But according to an official source, this bakery location won’t open until next year, as they’re “hoping for a January opening.”

Assembly Row’s PAUL Bakery will be located at 631 Assembly Row, #230, Somerville.
