In October, reports surfaced that Boston-raised actor Casey Affleck would be starring in the film adaptation of “Boston Strong,” the novel recounting the events of the 2013 Boston Marathon and its aftermath written by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge. However, Affleck was in town this past weekend for a Q&A and screening of his film “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford” at the Brattle Theater, and during the question and answer session, he announced that those reports were false, according to the Boston Globe.

Affleck is currently working on “The Finest Hours” with screenwriters Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, the same writers who obtained the movie rights to “Boston Strong” in July. The film is shooting in Boston, and Affleck confirmed that he has also signed on to star in an upcoming movie about the Boston Strangler. The Globe reported that Affleck said during the Q&A that he’s always seeking out film projects with ties to his geographical roots – even though he’s no longer tied to the “Boston Strong” film.

Previously, it was reported that Affleck would not only be starring in the film, but would also produce. No word yet on who will actually be filling these roles for “Boston Strong,” which still has Affleck’s name listed on its IMDb Pro page.
