If you’re already thinking about ways to get back on the healthy track come January, you’re not alone. According to CoachUp, 44-percent of Americans make New Years resolutions and of that 38-percent are weight related.

However, as a Boston-based fitness professional I must offer you some advice: Don’t be part of that percentage. If you’re looking to lead a healthier life in 2015, surround yourself with individuals who also practice this kale and quinoa-filled way of life.

On Wednesday, January 14 join healthy members of our Hub at District Hall for the first annual Boston Fitness Gala. This free community event aims to unite individuals, teams and even co-workers who share a common passion for wellness, regardless of their specific style of sweating.

This event will be much more than cocktails and catching up. According to their Eventbrite page participants will, “Witness a live dance performance, hear from 3 local fitness executives, and experience the live Kickstarter launch of an exciting new fitness company.”

Similar to the New Years Eve ball drop, one of the event sponsors and Boston startup Perfect Burpee will be launching their crowdfunding campaign during the gala! Perfect Burpee is a workout mat created specifically for high-intesity exercises. The other sponsor is well-known fitness community Boston Social Athletes who holds local meet ups for healthy living enthusiasts and fitness goers each month!

Wider and more padded than traditional yoga mats, this product is created using a combination of natural tree rubber and nano particle-infused polyurethane. Its octagonal shape allows users to perform pushups and burpees with ease — well, at least your form won’t be constricted.

As for the performances during the gala, 50 On Fire finalist and BosFit feature BollyX Fitness will be taking the stage as well as Parkour Generations. After watching their jaw dropping moves, challenge your fitness friends to a pull-up competition, take a turn in the virtual batting cage or simply grab a drink at the cash bar.

So whether you’re a fitness junkie or just looking to get healthier in the new year, it’s time to immerse yourself in the community that is Boston fitness.

We know sparking up a conversation with the person next to you on the elliptical is awkward, so attend the first annual Boston Fitness Gala for a better experience. Not to mention, two weeks into the start of the new year there’s a good chance your resolutions will have dwindled — but these new found relationships, however, could grow faster than your bulging biceps after arm day.

Admission to the Boston Fitness Gala is free, however registration is required. Claim your spot now!
