Boston’s possible bid for the 2024 Summer Olympics cleared a major hurdle on Thursday night, when the United States Olympic Committee selected them over the three other U.S. cities in the bidding process. The event marks only the beginning of a possible bid, and the next few months should see a spirited dialogue, as both sides (for and against) a 2024 Boston bid speak up.

In the short term, we can begin to expect more details to flow from the Boston 2024 camp, including the first renderings of what their vision for an Olympics would look like. Right on schedule, the first four images emerged earlier on Friday, via the Boston 2024 Facebook page.

First, here’s the possible “Olympic Boulevard”

And a picture of the “International Plaza at the Athlete’s Village,” which would possibly be on the campus of UMass Boston. Apparently, Kevin Durant (seen in the top left) will still be playing for Team USA in 2024. We have no issues with that:

Another picture from the Plaza:

And lastly, here’s the first rendering of a possible Aquatic Center:

More of these will surely start to trickle out as the bid is evaluated and (possibly) submitted to the International Olympic Committee for formal consideration later this year before a decision is reached about who will host the 2024 Games in 2017.
