In his new role as ambassador for Boston 2024, former governor Deval Patrick will be paid $7,500 a day as a part-time employee, the COO of the Olympic organizing committee says.

“Governor Patrick has a passionate voice and unbridled enthusiasm for promoting Boston and Massachusetts to the world and believes the Olympic and Paralympic Games can greatly benefit the Commonwealth,” Boston 2024 COO Erin Murphy said in a statement provided to BostInno Monday afternoon. “We are thrilled that he has agreed to help our team.”

Last Friday, Patrick announced in a statement that he had been tapped as Boston 2024’s global ambassador, a position that will likely require the former governor to get himself back into top vote-getting mode. Only this time, Patrick will play the role of lobbyist as he tries to sell the International Olympic Committee on selecting Boston for the 2024 Summer Games.

“Governor Patrick will not be a full-time salaried employee,” Murphy’s statement continued. As Boston 2024’s ambassador Patrick “will be compensated based on the amount of his travel and efforts on behalf of Boston 2024 – the extent of which has not been determined at this time. When he does travel on our behalf he will be compensated at a rate of $7,500 per day,” Murphy said.

Boston 2024 CEO Richard Davey, the former Massachusetts Transportation Department chief under Patrick, is set to receive $300,000 in annual pay as head of the organizing committee. In a statement, Davey said:

Boston 2024 has built a strong team of athletes, architects, engineers, civic and business leaders and grassroots organizers to help make the case on the local level and on the international stage for Boston’s bid for a walkable, sustainable Olympic and Paralympic Games. After consultation with Mayor Walsh and to continue our efforts to promote a transparent and open bid process, we are releasing the salaries and compensation of our current staff and consultants.

In addition to the details regarding Patrick’s compensation, Boston 2024 released salary information for the group’s various departments, officials, and staff (below).
