It’s Patriot’s Day in Boston which means it’s also Marathon Monday. For the 2015 Boston Marathon, anyone who plans on heading into the city to join in the spectator fun is highly encouraged to utilize public transportation. Yes, they want you to take the T today.

I know the MBTA isn’t ideal especially during high-volume events like the Boston Marathon, but there are several road closures and parking restrictions, not to mention a Red Sox game at 11 a.m., so traffic is sure to be frustrating experience.

The T is expecting an influx of thousands of riders for the Marathon so it will be running with enhanced rush-hour service levels.

With that in mind, here’s what you should know about riding the MBTA today:

  • Copley Station will be closed on Marathon Monday
  • Red, Orange, Green, and Blue Lines, as all commuter rail lines, will operate on a regular weekday schedule with rush hour-level service
  • No service will be available out of Green Line stops South Street, Kent Street, and St. Mary’s between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Marathon Monday
  • The Berkeley Street entrance/exit of Arlington Station on the Green Line will remain closed during the race
  • The B branch of the Hynes Convention Center on Boylston Street will be “exit only.”
  • The Silver Line will also provide regular weekday trips, except for the SL5
  • The following bus routes will be impacted by detours at various times throughout the day: 8, 9, 10, 39, 43, 47, 57, 59, 60, 65, 66, 86, 502, 504, and SL5 (Silver Line).
