The Red Sox open their 2017 campaign today at Fenway Park. The Boston Marathon is in two weeks. The arrival of spring in Boston is that much sweeter because we have to endure four months of cold and snow, and the event calendar is heating up just in time. Let’s go.

Red Sox Opening Day

April 3 – Fenway Park – After getting swept out of the playoffs by the eventual American League Champion Cleveland Indians, reigning Cy Young Award winner Rick Porcello gets the Opening Day start for the Red Sox. First pitch at 2:05 p.m.

Boston Design Week Spring Showcase

April 4 – 11 a.m. – Boston Design Center – Boston Design Week’s one-day mini-market will focus on all things dining and entertaining. Matthew Quinn, a leading expert in kitchen and bath design, is among the speakers.

National Deep Dish Pizza Day

April 5 –  Worden Hall – Instead of traveling to Chicago to celebrate National Deep Dish Pizza Day, save some money and head over to Worden Hall in Southie. They created a special menu just for this important holiday. Pick your pizza size (individual $11, large $20), sauce, cheese, and additional toppings, and be sure to pair with something from Worden Hall’s excellent beer list.

Create 2017

April 7 through 9 –  SoWa – CREATE, Boston’s annual celebration of art, food, drink and music, is taking over the SoWa Power Station all weekend and hosting a series of one-of-a-kind events pairing up-and-coming artists with the next wave of Boston’s top chefs and bartenders. Brine Fest

April 13 – 6 p.m. – The Blue Room/Central Bottle Wine/Belly Wine Bar – The fine folks at these three great Cambridge establishments are opening up the patio early for the season to throw a seafood shindig with Island Creek Oysters, SKy8 Shrimp, and lots of Muscadet. Tix: $45.

Runner’s World Boston Marathon Pop-up Experience

April 14 through 16 – 899 Boylston St. – Open to the public, the Runner’s World pop-up will offer panel discussions with legendary runners such as Kathrine Switzer; yoga, core-training, self defense and pre-race meditation and relaxation classes led by fitness experts; book signings with authors such as Olympian Shalane Flanagan; and exclusive, limited-edition Runner’s World merchandise created for the Marathon. Midnight Marathon Bike Ride

April 16, 7 p.m. – Southborough – Taking place on Boston Marathon Eve, the 9th Annual Boston Midnight Marathon Bike Ride will take more than 1,000 participants on a self-guided midnight bike ride to Boston via a 30.6-mile route from the Southborough Commuter Rail or a shorter, 27.3-mile route. Free.

The 121st Boston Marathon

April 17 – Hopkinton to Boston – The world’s oldest annual marathon is the unofficial kickoff to spring in Boston. There’s a pretty good chance you’re running the race, watching the race, or going to the 11:05 a.m. Red Sox game vs. the Tampa Bay Rays. No matter your plans are, it’s the best day of the year in Boston.

2017 Sweat Crawl

April 17 (tickets on sale) – various fitness studios – On May 13, The Sweat Concierge’s 2017 Sweat Crawl will unite fitness junkies across Boston. Attendees will participate in back-to-back 30-minute classes and have the opportunity to buy tickets for Sweat Crawls in specific neighborhoods (Back Bay 1, Back Bay 2, Downtown, North End, South End, and South Boston). Wine Riot

April 21 and 22 – The Castle at Park Plaza – Your all-access pass to hundreds of new wines, Wine Riot returns to the Castle at Park Plaza with one Friday session and two Saturday sessions full of music, seminars and, most importantly, lots of wine. Stuck-up oenophiles need not apply. Tix: $65.

2017 Friends of Lovin’ Spoonfuls Launch Party

April 27, 6 p.m. – Boston Design Center – Join the Friends of Lovin’ Spoonfuls and Boston Common Magazine for an evening of art, food and drink, and great music in the fabulous Contour19: Pop Up Art Gallery. All proceeds will benefit Lovin’ Spoonfuls, which is dedicated to facilitating the rescue and distribution of healthy, fresh food that would otherwise be discarded. Tix: $35.

Art Week Boston

April 28 through May 7 –  various sites  – Presented by Highland Street Foundation and produced by the Boch Center, ArtWeek is a bi-annual creative festival featuring more than 150 unique, unexpected, and creative experiences that are participatory, interactive.

Power Beer Fest

April 29 – SoWa Power Station – More than 60 Massachusetts brewers will come together for the first ever Power Beer Fest. The two-session festival – 1 to 4:30 p.m. and 6 to 9:30 p.m. – will help kick off the season opening of the SoWa Open Market. Tickets include unlimited two-ounce beer samples from participating breweries. Proceeds will benefit the Massachusetts Brewers Guild. Tix: $55.
