Fall football season has arrived. While hardcore Patriots fans (did you catch the Jets v Patriots game last night?) may be pumped Tom Brady is back on the field, some of us may be a bit more excited about the return of the tailgate. That glorious game time ritual where you throw on a jersey, grab a Bud Light, and chow down on sausages fresh off your buddy’s portable grill. And the games. Oh the games! While the jury is still out on whether Bostonians prefer baggo or ladder toss, for us here at BostInno, baggo is our game.

Lucky for us, our amazing sponsors Broga will be bringing the greatest of all tailgating pastimes to Happy Hour Athlete and hosting a special edition of Baggo with Broga at Game On! September 24th. After you’ve browsed the coolest ways to get fit in Boston, scored some swag, and stepped up to the plate in the Fenway Park batting cages, be sure to enter the Broga’s baggo tournament.

This won’t be your run-of-the mill baggo competition. Broga is putting their own spin on the classic game, and while we don’t want to give away too much, a yoga pose or two might be involved.

Never heard of Broga? Broga offers yoga classes geared toward men. Too many guys miss out on the benefits of yoga believing it’s a female-only fitness option. Co-founder Robert Sidoti created Broga to debunk this myth and bring yoga to bros everywhere. Can’t touch your toes? No problem. Broga makes yoga accessible to the namaste newbie by combining poses with familiar exercises. Check it out:

Broga is the perfect fitness option for any guy looking for a challenging, core-strengthening workout that also reduces stress and improves flexibility. So all you Boston bros, it might be time to take break from lacrosse and give Broga a shot.

Now back to business. We at BostInno don’t mess around with our tailgating games so here are the official rules of baggo. Study up before September 24th! But be ready for some curveballs: you never know what the bros over at Broga might throw in to spice up the competition.

OFFICIAL BAGGO BY BROGA RULES

  • 2 players to a team
  • Each team plays with 4 bags
  • The last team to score on the previous round tosses first
  • Opponents alternate tosses until all 8 bags are thrown, completing one round
  • The round is then scored

OFFICIAL BAGGO BY BROGA SCORING

  • Winner is first team to score 11 points or more
  • 3 points for each bag in the hole
  • 1 point for each bag on the board
  • Score is the difference in the team totals. Example: After one round, Team 1 with 1 bag in the hole=3 points and Team 2 with 2 bags on board=2 points. Total score for first round is Team 1=1 point and  Team 2=0 points
  • Bags pushed in hole by opponent’s toss count for 3 points
  • If a bag touches the ground or is tossed out of turn, it doesn’t count
