Nominations have been pouring in for 50 on Fire. We’ve passed the 500 mark, and we love that there’s no sign of stopping.

We still have more than a week left for you, our readers, to tell us who is out there setting the Boston scene on fire.

Whenever something new and a little outside the box comes up, it’s inevitable that there might be some questions. In doing an awards event like no other, not surprisingly, we’ve had some of you ask “what exactly does it mean to be ‘on fire’?”

Let me start by saying what being “on fire” is not, necessarily. It’s not just about IPOs, or who you know, or revenue growth so crazy that no chart does it justice. It’s not about recognizing the people and companies who seem to always be getting recognized because “that’s just the way it is”.

Being on fire is about being brave. It’s about pushing on the four walls of an industry, a city, a thought, until they expand to make room for an idea, a talent, a success that’s so much bigger than what was there before, and too incredible to be ignored. It doesn’t matter if you’re 17 or 70, building a brand that everyone knows about or one we’ve never, ever heard of. Are you constantly forging new ground? Are you leaving a mark? Are you making people talk?

Most importantly, are you changing Boston for the better?

Well then, you’re on fire.

Watch for great content coming soon, as we ask some of our favorite community members for their nominations.

Get your own nominating done before February 8th, buy tickets before it’s too late, then join us to celebrate to the hottest 50 people and companies changing Boston in the most incredible ways.
