Since their miraculous escape from Cleveland, OH predator Ariel Castro’s home back in May, victims Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michele Knight have remained completely silent to the outside world. However, today the victims released a video thanking the public for their support, for respecting their privacy, and for their generous donations during what’s sure to be a difficult restoration period. Despite being subjected to the horrors of detainment, rape, and forced abortions all three women appear to be happy and healthy while on the road to recovery.

Check out the Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michele Knight video thanking the public for their support:

On May 6, Amanda Berry was able to get the attention of neighbor Charles Ramsey who pried open Castro’s door in order to free her and her child from captivity. Berry, DeJesus, and Knight had all been pronounced missing since 2003, 2004, and 2002 respectively and it came as a shock to authorities and Ramsey once they were all identified.

At the time of their kidnapping Berry was just 16, DeJesus 14, and Knight 21. All three were subjected to rape and forced abortions at the hands of Castro throughout their time being imprisoned in his home, though he fathered a child with Berry in 2006 which has been confirmed through DNA testing. Like her mother, the child is happy and healthy.

On June 7, Castro was indicted on 329 counts spanning from just 2002 to 2007 that include 139 counts of rape, 177 counts of kidnapping, seven counts of gross sexual imposition, three counts of felonious assault, one count of possession of criminal tools, and two counts of aggravated murder for his role in the termination of one of the women’s pregnancies. The prosecution has indicated that they may wish to seek the death penalty in the case.

Castro has plead not guilty to all charges and his defense attorney has mentioned the possible intent to seek another venue for the trial in order to appear before a completely unbiased jury.
