Royal Baby fever has taken the world by storm, and since Kate Middleton’s reported due date passed on Saturday July 13, people are getting anxious. But don’t fret, there’s a new way to pass the time until the Duchess goes into labor in the form of an iPhone app.

That’s right, for all of you who can’t get enough Royal Baby scoop, the “Royal Baby App: Kate and William’s birth celebration” is now available for download on iTunes.

The app was developed by the British Future Publishing Company Ltd. as a way for users to keep up to date on the latest Tweets, articles, and rumors surrounding the imminent birth of the future Prince or Princess of Cambridge.

Royal Baby App is free to download, but access to extra content such as “mini-apps packed with in-depth features, archive photography and the latest galleries of Wills, Kate, royal births through the ages, the happy great-grandparents, Uncle Harry and loads more” will cost you. The app’s iTunes description goes on to reveal that updates won’t stop with just coverage of the birth. The app’s developers plan to include such noteworthy events as pictures of the baby’s first steps and royal appearances as well.

Given the media frenzy already surrounding the event, Future Publishing may be onto something. The Guardian points out that creating a mobile app and releasing it before the birth will “help it capitalise on demand for news and photos of William and Kate’s baby much faster than it would be able to with a print magazine.” Media companies aren’t the only ones trying to make a profit on the Royal Baby, however. From the souvenir industry to the gambling sphere, everyone is trying to get in on the action.

If you want to be among the first to know coveted Royal Baby information, this app might be your new best friend. For more in-depth coverage, keep checking in with BostInno and our resident Royal Baby aficionados.
