Back in May, the BlackBerry Live event previewed the telecom company’s new BlackBerry A10 with a release date and specs. Today, a new leaked photo and a video of the BlackBerry A10 out in the wild shed more insight into the upcoming touchscreen, a new move by BB away from its signature QWERTY keypad.

According to The Verge, “The A10 is rumored to have a 5-inch AMOLED display, a dual-core processor, and 2GB of RAM.” As for features, we learned from BlackBerry Live that the A10 will run on BB’s flagship BlackBerry 10 os which includes highlights like real-time updates, easy slide features, and multitasking gesture integration. Finally moving all of this onto a touchscreen is a move in the right direction for BlackBerry as keypads are simply obsolete.

There’s been no word yet on a general price range for the device though it’s been confirmed that Sprint Nextel will be the first to carry the device in its arsenal from which it will hit the retail shelves during some time in November. A CNet report back in early June notes interestingly that Sprint had the opportunity to stake a claim to similarly equipped BlackBerry Z10 touchscreen handset but opted instead for the A10, which could mean it’s a generally more powerful device with more engaging features.

With BlackBerry 10 running under the hood, BB has a chance to really take a bite out of the huge market share controlled by Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and Apple’s iPhone 5, propelling the Canada-based company back into the prominence it once resided in. Android and iOS, the two OSs on the GS4 and iPhone 5, practically own the mobile platform market  and the respective devices they run on dominate the smartphone realm, though the likes of LG, HTC, Nokia, and of course BlackBerry are perpetually nipping at their heels.

Take a look at the photo and video above and let us know what you think of the upcoming BlackBerry A10.
