President Obama is expected to outline his economic plan to safeguard the middle-class later today in the Midwest.

The President will be speaking at several stops in Illinois, including the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg Knox College in Galesburg–the same institution where he spoke in 2005 as senator about the strength of the middle-class as a pillar for economic prosperity.

Obama will be addressing policies aimed at expanding the middle-class but is not expected to introduce any new initiatives. The speeches are intended to raise public awareness and increase pressure on lawmakers in hopes of avoiding stalemates over tax spending to be voted on in the Fall.
