At its press event today, Google announced its new Nexus 7 tablet along with release date and specs. As expected, the Nexus 7 received new upgrades in terms of both hardware and software and even better, Google announced that the Nexus 7 will be available as expected on July 30 for 16GB worth $229.99, 32GB for $269.99 price tag, or $349.99 with 4G LTE.

Getting right down to it, the execs and engineers at Google, with the help of manufacturers over at Asus, crafted a next-generation version of its flagship tablet with some serious muscle underneath the 7-inch 920×1200,323 pixels per inch, (the highest DPI of any tablet on the market) 1080p display. The new Nexus boasts 1.5GHz Snapdragon chipset OS that’s 80% faster with 4x GPU frame-rates for gamers. Google also upped the amount of memory by increasing the RAM to 2GB as well as that of the battery to 1 extra hour compared to last year’s 10 hours of browsing and 9 of video.

As for hardware, the new Nexus weighs in at 50 grams lighter, 2mm thinner, and offers a smaller bezel. Equipped alongside this are two cameras, a front-facing 1.2MP shooter and a rear-facing 5MP.

More goodies include optional 4G LTE (from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile  only), HDMI output, NFC capabilities, wireless charging support, Bluetooth 4.0, and the newly unveiled Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system–more on Android 4.3 in a bit.

Essentially, all of the rumors surrounding the Nexus 7 came into fruition, right down to the consumer availability date and price. That’s not to say the tablet isn’t a formidable one, because it is. All of the functions, features, and everything in between is well worth the price tag, especially when compared the monstrous cost of Apple’s flagship tablet series and miniature versions.
