At a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Boston Police announced details about the death of Amy Lord, a 24-year-old woman whose body was found dead at Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park around 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lord was allegedly kidnapped as she was on her way to the gym around 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning in South Boston. Lord was abducted, forced to take money out of five ATMs and then stabbed multiple times, before being found dead in the reservation on Tuesday afternoon by a passerby. Her car was set fire as well, and police believe she was in her car when she was abducted.

There was another stabbing around 5 a.m. on Tuesday in Andrew Square, as well as an attack on a woman near the intersection of Telepgrah and Gates Streets in Southie after midnight in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Edwin J. Alemany, 28, of Boston, is being held in custody in relation to that case, according to a report from Boston.com.

Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley says officials are not linking attack Lord’s to the two other stabbings. Both women involved in the stabbings survived the attacks.

Lord was a 24-year-old Bentley University alum who worked at Genuine Interactive, a creative agency in Boston. The company released the following statement in the wake of her death.

The passing of Amy Lord is both tragic and shocking. Amy was a true family member to all of us at Genuine Interactive. We are taking time to focus on the well-being of Amy’s family and friends while trying to come to grips with the loss of such a vibrant, caring and special young person.

We met Amy three years ago while she was still an undergrad at Bentley and were impressed by both her smarts and infectious, positive personality. Her ever-present smile and caring nature made her a favorite friend of everyone here. We are extremely saddened at her passing and for her family who is very close to us.

We know the detectives from the Boston Police Department are working hard to help make sense of this horrific event and hope that no one has to experience this kind of loss.

Lord grew up in Wilbraham, Mass., and was living on Dorchester Street in South Boston.

We will continue to update this story as we learn more.
