As seen in the below live stream, Bob Filner, the San Diego Mayor, will make a statement this afternoon to address the sexual harassment accusations brought against him by numerous women. The accusations first emerged earlier in July when three of Filner’s long-time supporters came forward in a press conference of their own calling for his immediate resignation. Filner is expected to make a major announcement regarding the matter today.

Watch San Diego Mayor Bob Filner’s major announcement today at 3pm ET/ noon PT:

Just yesterday, in an exclusive interview with KPBS news, another four additional prominent San Diego women came forth accusing Mayor Bob Filner of unwanted sexual advances. According to the local news station,

“The latest accusers —a retired Navy rear-admiral, a dean at San Diego State University, the head of the Port Tenants Association and a businesswoman — all said they were on the receiving end of unwanted advances, inappropriate touching and comments by Filner.”

Since the initial accusations,  Filner has issued a video statement apologizing and saying that he is seeking professional help to change his behavior. A day after the three brave women came forward with their concerns, Filner admitted in a statement to reporters that he has treated women poorly and sometimes intimidated them, but insisted that a “fair and independent investigation” would clear him of sexual harassment charges.

Just today, Democratic National Committee chairwoman and U.S Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz called for Filner to resign as well.

Only seven months into a four year term, the 70-year old mayor of San Diego and former Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from California’s 50th district could resign in disgrace, a recurring trend as of late, it appears, as former U.S. Congressman and current New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner a.k.a. Carlos Danger has been caught yet again sending explicit photos of his groinal regional across social media networks.
