The woman who courageously snagged alleged murderer Edwin Alemany’s ID before being suffocated to the point of passing out has released a statement this afternoon regarding his arraignment and subsequent legal proceedings. Alemany is currently being held at Bridgewater State Hospital, on no bail in first-degree murder of Amy Lord and on $3 million in the assault charges against the unidentified woman as well as another.

Though brief, the statement conveys all of the emotions and then some of not only her, the other female assult victim, and those close to Amy Lord, but also the Boston community at large. It reads,

“I am so relieved that Edwin Alemany was caught and was arraigned for the murder of Amy Lord.  My heart goes out to Amy’s family. I have no further comment at this time”

Alemany has plead not guilty to all of the charges brought against him, though is currently being held at the hospital after his defense lawyers notified the court that the suspect supposedly attempted suicide in his holding cell last night and is hearing voices.

Before purportedly stabbing the 24-year old Lord to death in Hyde Park’s Stony Brook Reservation, he assaulted two other women including one who was able to grab his ID before passing out. With her help, police were able to confirm and locate Alemany, 28, as well as illuminate how former detective Jerome Hall-Brewster did not follow up with Alemany after the 2012 autumn attacks and took a series of missteps resulting in his demotion from detective by Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis.

Amy Lord, a Wilbraham, MA native and South Boston resident, graduated from Bentley University in 2011 and worked at Genuine Interactive, a creative agency in Boston before her untimely passing.

Alemany is due in court again on November 13 coincidentally the same day James “Whitey” Bu’ger’s sentencing is to begin.
