If, like me, you’ve been stuck in Cambridge late at night looking for a cab—just to realize that some won’t take you across the river, and that none will take your credit card—your taxi-fueled headache is about to get better.

Hailo announced Thursday that they’ll be expanding their service into Cambridge, providing app users access to more licensed, registered drivers in more locations beyond Boston proper. If you’re a Hailo user, you’re likely to appreciate this news, as Hailo’s easy functionality basically guarantees that you always have a safe way home.

Vanessa Kafka, the general manager of Hailo Boston, said in a press release that the expansion will allow for better service:

Hailo is the easiest, safest, most accountable way to take a taxi in Greater Boston, and we are thrilled to expand our reach into Cambridge. A Hailo cab can be hailed from anywhere, but the expansion means that more licensed drivers than ever will be able meet passenger demand. We pride ourselves on working closely with regulators in every city in which we operate and have found a warm reception in Cambridge.

When users take to Hailo to get a taxi, the app immediately searches for all available cabs in the area and sends an available one to the user’s exact location. Meaning, you never have to wander down the sidewalk at night to catch a cab. The safety of the app accompanies the convenience, especially as users can pre-load their credit cards onto the app, which will process the payments for them.

Meaning no more having to head to the ATM before hailing a cab in Cambridge, or dealing with a taxi driver’s grumbles as you sheepishly swipe your card.

In celebration of the expansion, Hailo is offering users a $15-off promo with the use of the code “Cambridge” between today and Thursday, September 19. The company is looking to the expand their taxi service to Brookline and Somerville next to get even more Hailo-approved cab drivers on the road and, while Hailo users can hail from anywhere, they’ll see more efficient service.
