It’s being reported that a house exploded in Stamford, Connecticut this afternoon and was subsequently razed to the ground. The explosion was first called in around 2:00 p.m. ET and the proper officials and authorities are on the scene including multiple fire departments and Yankee Gas. A large propane tank was burning on the premises.

It is unclear at this point what caused the explosion. NBC New York has noted that fire crews from Greenwich and New Canaan are on the scene.

In terms of the homestead’s inhabitants, WFSB confirmed that “the unidentified homeowner was conscious, as well as alert and taken to hospital as a precaution. There are no other reported injuries.”

The explosion took place at 305 Webbs Hill Road and three neighboring houses have caught fire as well. They are now structurally damagedThe road has been completely shut down.

CBS New York is reporting that smoke billowing from the remnants can be seen up to 40 miles away, while debris was tossed up to 40 yards away including “Windows, cinderblocks and other.”
