On Monday, AdWeek published “The United States of Ad Agencies” revealing their picks for the top shops in every state. In their coast-to-coast evaluation, AdWeek looked at head count, client list, legacy and reputation to determine which agency rose above the rest. And who was their pick for best agency in Massachusetts? Drumroll, please… Hill Holliday.

Hill Holliday is certainly a member of Boston’s advertising elite. Founded in 1968, Hill Holliday has firmly established their sterling reputation as one of the nation’s top advertising agencies. They are the second largest firm outside of New York with 850 employees and offices in Boston, New York, South Carolina, and Miami. Beyond their size and longevity, Hill Holliday boasts an impressive roster of clients which span industries. Bank of America, Liberty Mutual, Major League Baseball, and Chili’s are among the ranks.

It’s also worth mentioning Hill Holliday’s ability to innovate. Last week, their Dunkin’ Donuts television ad created entirely from Vine aired during ESPN’s Monday Night Football Countdown. The first of its kind, the spot has been called groundbreaking and has already been replicated by brands like Nissan Mobile, reported AdWeek.

No one can deny that Hill Holliday is an industry leader and trendsetter with a remarkable body of work, but the agency is far from the only innovator in town. Look at Mullen’s multimedia JetBlue campaign or their inspired “Made for Mankind” Acura TV spot. And are you familiar with Flo, the friendly face of Progressive Car Insurance? Arnold Worldwide powered that wildly successful campaign plus others for Volvo and Jack Daniels. And that’s only cracking the surface of Boston’s bustling advertising scene.
