Just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night, numerous tweets from people in the Boston area referenced a “flash” in the sky. Universal Hub picked up on some of the the Twitter activity and posted it on their website.

A meteorology student, however, suggested that reports indicated the flash was likely a meteor. Pete Bouchchard of Channel 7 News seems to agree.

No official word, but Universal Hub did tweet a link to a “Fireball” report by amsmeteors.org. The spreadsheet indicates that 35 different people along the east coast reported seeing the flash of light between 9:44 p.m. EDT and 10:30 p.m. EDT. The first reported sighting came from Solon, Maine, and the last came from West Bridgewater, Mass.  One observer reported that he saw the flash over Boston at 11:40 p.m. EDT.

Amsmeteors.org has yet to positively I.D. the reported flash.

Did any of you see this?
