Tonight in Toronto, UFC 165 will take place pitting Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson in a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. The bout will take place in Toronto’s Air Canada Centre in the heart of the metro region and will be the main event during the evening’s MMA proceedings.

26-year old Jon Jones is the current UFC Light Heavyweight title holder having defeated Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in a title match back in 2011. All it took was three rounds for Jones to become the youngest Light Heavyweight champ in UFC history. MMA Mania and Sherdog call Jones the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.

Challenging Jones tonight will be Swedish fighter Alexander Gustafsson. Also 26, Gustafsson is currently ranked as the #1 Light Heavyweight contender in the world by the UFC, fully deserved in hit title shot against Jones. Standing at 6 ft 5 in and weighing in at about 205 lbs, he matches up to Jones in both height and weight who measures in at 6 ft 5 in and 204.6 lbs.

Important to note, though, is that the champ’s reach is nearly 10 full inches longer than the challenger’s.

UFC has a great side-by-side comparison of the two fighters, not necessarily breaking advantages to disadvantages but simply comparing all physical attributes and thus letting the viewer surmise one to be advantageous over the other.

Also slated on the fight card is a rescheduled Interim Bantamweight Championship bout between the current champion Renan Barăo, and former WEC Bantamweight Champion and top contender Eddie Wineland. The pairing was first planned as the headliner at UFC 161, but was removed from that event after Barao had a foot injury.
