Mayor Tom Menino and members from Skanska’s development team and PricewaterhouseCoopers took part in a ceremonial groundbreaking at the site of the first Seaport Square tower earlier today, according to Boston Business Journal report.

The $126 million, 17-story building will be built at 101 Seaport Boulevard, and serve as PwC’s headquarters. The company will occupy 75 percent of the 450,000-square foot space, according to the BBJ report.

PwC will move its employees from the Financial District when 101 Seaport Boulevard opens in 2015. This plan was finalized in early August, and will reportedly help the accounting company add 500 more jobs.

Last year, Boston Seaport LLC. sold Skanska USA Commercial Development one-acre of the 23-acre Seaport Square development for $33 million. Additionally, Skanska partnered with Twining Properties last year to develop Watermark Seaport, a residential building on the corner of Seaport Boulevard and Boston Wharf Road.

According to the BBJ, both projects are part of a 6.35 million square-foot development in Seaport Square.
