According to IMDB, a popular movie aggregator site, the plot is centered around “An aging, booze-addled father makes the trip from Montana to Nebraska with his estranged son in order to claim a million dollar Mega Sweepstakes Marketing prize.”

Coming-of-middle-to-late-age stories are usually pretty entertaining and allow for a certain reflection, or prospect, of how life can or should be for some of us. Few directors, if any, have mastered this storyline better than Alexander Payne who has critically acclaimed hits like The Descendants, Sideways, and About Schmidt fastened securely under his belt.

Forte, of Saturday Night Live and Beerfest fame, has plenty humor in him to counteract Dern’s apparent, though depressing, last grasp on life and a supporting cast anchored by June Squibb, Bob Odenkirk, Stacy Keach give life to the small town residents of Montana completely enamored and self-deserving, by their respects, of a mere piece of Dern’s character’s jackpot.

A fresh take on the parent/sibling roadtrip story, Nebraska could end up being one of the more popular sleeper hits of the holiday season, both at the box office and by the pen of critics.
