In case you missed it – GQ has officially fallen into the Gap with their latest collaboration, according to Racked. Gap is now featuring a menswear collection designed by GQ’s “Best New Designers.” A smart and creative collaboration if I ever saw one.

According to GQ, last year’s collection “flew off the shelf” – so I would suggest ordering yours now – before it’s too late.

Each of the four designers, Aviator Nation, Baldwin, Bespoken and Ernest Alexander seem to target a certain male audience based upon personal style. For instance, Aviator Nation’s pieces feature a puffer jacket and striped sweatshirts, which signify the sun, as well as “surf wave” T-shirts (definitely for the laid back). Aviator Nation tells GQ, “that retro vibe is a big part of Aviator Nation’s DNA, so for the Gap project that meant making sure washes and colors are perfect.”

Designer, Matt Baldwin, seems to mix the preppy look with unconventional pieces featuring Oxford shirts and Twill Cargo pants (not for the preppy at heart). The designer tells GQ “I’m an outdoorsy guy, but I want clothes I can wear everywhere.”

Bespoken is a bit more alternative with their plaid shirt and and shrunken tweed jacket and tie (think, city boy). Sammy Fayed explains to GQ, “We’re really into taking classic things and turning them on their heads so they have a grittier feel.”

Ernest Alexander lends a preppier style to the Gap featuring totes, canvas belts and a four-pocket waxed jacket (hello Barbour lookalike). The designer tells GQ, “Our mission with every piece was to make it functional and refined but still fun.”

But all in all – I’m sure most of you won’t have any trouble picking out something that pleases the eye – whether for yourself or for your man. Check out the new collection now. According to Racked, “the designers offer nine to 12 items apiece, available now on Gap.com… prices range from $30 for rainbow knit beanies and scarves, plus ties, to $348 for a retro suede baseball jacket.” You can also find the pieces in “most” Gap stores.
