Well foodies, it looks like its time to bid farewell (for now) to the New England Cable News (NECN) food show, ‘TV Diner.’ The show, which is cohosted by Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson has featured many local chefs and restaurant reviews in the Boston area over the last 10 years. But now NECN has stated TV Diner will indeed be discontinued.

And with Boston chefs, restaurateurs and even Mayor Menino publicly expressing their appreciation for the show, it may only be a matter of time before the show is picked up by another network (I suspect, anyway). Both NECN and the public have offered up their thanks to the show’s hosts, Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson for their contributions to the city.

TV Diner cohost Billy Costa stated via the KISS 108 website: “It’s been a great 10 year run for Jenny and I at NECN, and we want to thank NECN for their support throughout the years…but most importantly THANK YOU TO ALL OUR FANS for your kind words and well wishes. Feel free to send any feedback to NECN! Stay tuned for Billy and Jenny’s next adventure!”

Boston Mayor Menino stated that “TV Diner and its fabulous team have been a Boston staple for many years, bringing attention and prosperity to our amazing local restaurants.”

Patrick Moscaritolo, President & CEO of GBCVB even credits the show with helping to “brand Boston and Cambridge as a top culinary destination for visitors and locals.” The show’s influence hasn’t been lost on Boston Chefs like Brian Poe of Boston’s Tip Tap Room, who offered up his thanks stating, “I’m grateful to my friends Jenny Johnson and Billy Costa for all they’ve done to help promote Boston chefs and restaurants. They are hardworking, unbiased and always supportive. I’m excited to see what they do next!”

I guess Boston will just have to stay tuned to see what’s next (if anything) for TV Diner.
