For many people, coffee is simply morning fuel. One which keeps them charged, wakes them up and pulls them out of that dreadful afternoon slump. But for others (like myself), coffee is also part of a morning ritual, one that I cannot live without.

Luckily for caffeine addicts everywhere, there is now a totally made-up (albeit official) holiday designated to coffee lovers. Today is National Coffee Day. But don’t run to your Keurig just yet — several places in Boston will be serving up coffee and special offers in honor of the coffee bean holiday. And now, with the onset of fall, autumnal spices fill every coffee mug (and bakery) with pumpkin and maple flavored options –making it especially worth it to get out of the house and into a coffee shop. I mean, pumpkin muffins only come around once a year after all.

And speaking of pumpkin muffins, you might be wondering “where are the Brunch Buzz deets?” But instead of the typical spiked brunch buzz drink, I’m advocating a different kind of buzz today – the caffeine buzz from your favorite coffee house. So where in Boston can you celebrate this coffee “holiday” without enduring a long brunch line? We’ve got you covered. In addition to Dunkin’ Donuts free coffee special today, here are a few other Boston coffee houses serving up sweet deals and/or some of the best quick brunch foods to accommodate your Sunday morning hunger pains.
