The suspect involved in a bomb scare hoax that closed down Jacksonville International Airport late last night is likely to face charges. It’s thought 39-year old Zeljko Causevic was behind the tasteless deception, though it’s important to note that CNN is currently reporting that “there is no link to terrorism.” Jacksonville Airport has since reopened.

Causevic was arrested at 1:30 a.m. ET Wednesday morning and, says local station News4Jax, “According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office booking records, Causevic was charged with making a false report about planting a bomb or explosive and manufactured possession, sale, delivery or mailing of a hoax bomb.”

The airport was promptly evacuated upon receiving the bomb scare information, delaying flights and diverting landings, though only hours later authorities deemed the transport hub as all clear.

A Transportation Safety Administration officer who spoke with Causevic says the suspect’s statement references a bomb, but when his bag was searched all that was found was a luggage scale with micro chip inside and a remote control that he referred to as a detonator.

Witness told News4Jax that two men were taken into custody, though it seems only Causevic is facing charges.

Another eyewitness account notes that “The guy apparently, was not cooperating. I mean, I was in the middle of getting patted down and he… all the TSA agents started moving in and I heard one of the agents say, ‘so you’re telling me you have a bomb?’. And the guy said, ‘yes, I have a bomb’.” He was subsequently subdued and booked for the incident.

Jacksonville International Airport is currently open for business and running smoothly. Stay tuned to BostInno for the latest updates surrounding the incident, and other occurrences nation-wide. In the meantime, feel free to share your own thoughts and experiences in the comments section below.
