With Columbus Day weekend only a few – albeit long work – days away, it’s time to start making plans. But most importantly, another beautiful fall weekend is quickly approaching, meaning that we need to take full advantage of these days off during the next couple of months. After all, there’s no better time (and frankly, no other time) to frolic through apple orchards, indulge in autumn dishes or carve your award-winning jack-o-lantern.

And then there’s the foliage. Here in New England, we’re lucky enough to see the vibrant red, yellow and orange covered trees all autumn long. But before you can click your heels, the fall season will be gone. This means that spending a whole weekend devoted to leaf peeping is in order. So pack up your bags and head up the road to Warner, NH, a small town with a big love for the fall season. They’ll be hosting an apple pie filled fall foliage festival. Check it out below.

Stay Here:

Maples at Warner

69 East Main Street, Warner, NH

This quaint New England bed and breakfast makes for the perfect mini vacation. The Inn is surrounded by tall maple trees (hence the name) and is located a short walk away from shopping and restaurants in downtown Warner. And it’s not called a bed and breakfast for nothing. This inn features homemade muffins, breads, pastries, granola, fresh fruit, gourmet coffee and tea every morning.

Go Here:

Warner Fall Foliage Festival

Besides the 5-mile road race, the festival will feature entertainment, crafts, fall foods and a crafts fair. The festival is inspired by the “natural splendor” of New Hampshire’s autumn foliage. From the photos of past festivals, it certainly looks like a good time to me — especially if you’re looking for a weekend getaway that has that small-town feel. It’s also a great excuse to see the brilliant pallet of colors that will be on display courtesy of the local flora. And according to the site, there is no “politicking” allowed at the festival — somewhat amusing but at least we know partisan politics won’t get in the way of our love for fall.

Eat Here:

Honestly with the amount of fall fruits, lobster and apple pie that the festival will be serving up there’s no need to eat anywhere else. But just in case you need to get your drink on or that late night fill – here a couple suggestions:

If you’re looking for lunch or dinner go to:

The Local

2 E Main St, Warner, NH

This sandwich place is a favorite among locals, which means its probably your best bet. The restaurant serves up soups, salads, sandwiches, hot dog baskets (oh yes) and pulled pork. Sounds like my kind of joint.

If you looking for breakfast or brunch go to:

The Foot Hills of Warner

15 E Main St, Warner, NH

This country breakfast spot serves up cinnamon buns, omelets, potatoes, real maple syrup and great coffee. Honestly, this place serves up any breakfast foods you’re craving. Just don’t forget to bring cash.
