Attention Boston club hoppers: this weekend you can get your “untz-untz” on somewhere new. Tunnel, a new nightlife destination officially arrives in Boston tonight.

And not where you might expect. The club, appropriately named “Tunnel” will be opening beneath the W Boston Hotel & Residences (yes, we feel sorry for those residents as well).

So what can you expect other than the typical clubbing fare? Well for one, Tunnel will be much smaller than the standard nightclub at a capacity of 200 people, this place offers a fairly intimate setting. The venue itself is long with black rock walls resembling a tunnel.

Brian Lesser of Speakeasy Group describes the club in a release stating that Tunnel is an “exciting and exclusive night club. We have created a vibe that will transfix guests with the energy of an Ibiza style club, but in an upscale space that is unique to Boston.”

The club, designed by Sousa Design Architects, features a “discreet entrance, marked by frosted windows.” And, if you can’t tell from the picture (above) this club is all about the lights. The club’s “custom-made LED light system,” consisting of “3600 floating LED light fixtures with 65,000 pre-set lighting effect” spans across the entire Tunnel ceiling. And best of all, it can create “customized patterns” that can be synchronized with the music. And Tunnel means business with their lighting. In fact, the lighting engineer will work with the DJ every night “to create varied ambiances in sync with the music.” That’s a serious club, people.

It’s also no surprise that Tunnel will include a very serious cocktail list. The extensive list of creative cocktails, and selection of Champagne, Spirits and Cognacs will surely keep your drinks flowing and night going.

So if you’ve been searching for a “real” club in Boston, I’d recommend checking this one out. Tunnel is open on Tuesday, 9:30pm-2:00am. Thursday-Saturday, 9:30pm-2:00am. And closed Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays.
