Have we all become mobile shopaholics? With the growing number of mobile shopping smartphone apps, Boston residents are becoming ruder and less romantic by the second. Yikes. A recent survey of smartphone users by app tester SOASTA, revealed that Bostonians are shopping on their phones during dinner, at work and even on dates.

All in all, over half (55%) of Boston residents admit to shopping on their smartphone. The Harris Interactive study, which will be coming out on October 14, also surveyed 9 other major U.S. cities which included NYC, Chicago, LA, Atlanta, D.C., Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, and Philadelphia.

The survey mostly confirmed what we already knew: Boston is incredibly unromantic. According to the survey, we are more likely than anyone else in the U.S. to shop on our smartphones during a date (I repeat, a date). Not to mention, we’re also the most likely to shop on a phone during a romantic movie with their spouse or partner. Cue the violin.

But the mobile shopping obsession doesn’t stop with dating. We also shop a lot at work (I’m looking at you and your Rue La La obsession). The survey showed that Boston residents are more likely to shop on their smartphones during a work meeting than anyone else in the country.

Who knew Boston was so unromantic? Oh wait, we did.
