Unless you were spending your Sunday in some secret NORAD-like home yesterday, ensconced several hundred feet below ground, you probably saw (or at least heard) one of the better New England sports days in a while. The Patriots overcame injuries, drops, turnovers and an undefeated Saints team to pull off a last-second 30-27 victory. And later in the night, the Red Sox offense awoke from their series slumber to deliver six unanswered runs late in the game, helping Boston to tie the series at 1-1 in walk-off, 6-5 win.
Predictably, fans had some priceless reactions from last night (two of my personal favorites are at the bottom).
Here are a few of them:
One fan captured an amazingly quality video of Thompkins’ last-gasp touchdown:

Red Sox fan (and studious bullpen guard) Steve Horgan (of the Boston Police) gives me chills with this celebration. It will long live in New England baseball lore:

And this young fan is happy to be there. Prince Fielder, by contrast, is not:
Though he’s the Patriots’ radio color-commentator, Scott Zolak reacted like any fan would (maybe a little more weird than your average fan, but the emotion was there):
And speaking of Zo, one fan was so inspired, he put Kenbrell Thompkins’ touchdown catch into Tecmo Bowl-form with the radio call in the background:
This was the reaction of every grown-man-Patriots-fan everywhere (including my roommate, he danced elatedly in a circle three times):
Along those same lines: the fan who got this video has been to two Red Sox playoff games in his life. The first was 2004 ALCS game 4, and then this one last night. I think it’s safe to say he’s good luck. Fast forward to the 27-second mark for a hilarious “MEATBALL CITY” quote:
And the best one, showing basically everything that’s right with sports: a young Sox fan is giddy, and his father’s voice hits an even higher octave. Awesome:
