Relaxed and distressed. Dark and skinny. From fits to washes, there’s always a slew of new jean styles to choose from each season. So how do you pick which ones make it into your wardrobe rotation? Easy – mimic what all the celebrities are wearing. Hey, there’s a reason they’re photographed so often, right? Below, our picks for the celebrity styles you should totally follow.

Dark Skinny
If ever there was a fall staple, dark skinny jeans would be it. Pair them with a chunky knit – be it a sweater or slouchy beanie like Emma Stone – and you’re the picture of autumn.

Distressed
It’s pretty much a fact: Distressing on jeans gives any outfit instant edge. Wear the look with ankle booties, like the always-stylish Rachel Bilson, and boom – total cool-girl cred.

Printed
For fall, step away from florals and opt instead for more edgy prints like colored leopard spots (seen on the likes of Miranda Kerr). Just keep the rest of your outfit polished. In other words: No red stilettos, please.

Colored
While pastel pants may be reserved for summer and spring, rich colors like maroon (thank you, Olivia Palermo) and army green are still very much on-trend for the fall season. Go ahead, breathe a sigh of relief.

Coated
Not ready to wear leather just yet? It’s okay, you’ll get there. But in the meantime, make like Gwen Stefani and rock a pair of wax-coated jeans. The best part? They’re easier than leather to get on and off.

70s-Inspired
Just because you had to put your gladiator sandals and maxi dresses away for the winter doesn’t mean you can’t still rock that whole hippie-chic look. Just take it from Kate Moss. Simply opt for wide flare-leg, light-wash jeans and a loose-fitting tee. See? Still totally flower child–esque.
