What were two Boston bartenders doing inside of a boxing ring last night? Good question — and one that I wanted to find out as well. The mix off between the bartenders took place at at Moksa in Cambridge with the first-ever bartender “Punch-Out.”

Curtis McMillan from Innovation Portfolio and Moksa’s very own bartender Tyler Wolters battled it out to create the winning cocktail using one secret ingredient. And of course, it was inside of a boxing ring.

But the boxing gloves came off as the two mixed, stirred and shook throughout three rounds of competition. And each round the bartenders had to make an even more challenging cocktail creation. But ultimately, only one bartender left with the “Shaker of Glory” prize — and that was Curtis McMillan. He finally punched out Wolters for the title with his winning cocktail, The Dirty Cojiba (with the secret ingredient, pumpkin puree).

The unique event drew a lively crowd. Each guest was given a “punch” (cocktail) of their own, and a Sapporo beer. Moksa’s mixologist, Noon Summers, mixed up her own concoctions for the guests while they witnessed the cocktail smack down in the boxing ring.

Check out the pictures from the event (below) as well as the recipe for the winning concoction.
