The big Spring 2014 runways shows (New York, London, Paris, and Milan) are officially over. Now, after sitting through dozens of shows and poring over hundreds of images, I’ve rounded up the top five trends you should expect to see in the new year.

From top left:

1. Crop tops keep, well, cropping up.
Showing a sliver of stomach is one trend that won’t be dying anytime soon. With DKNY rocking tuxedo-inspired athletic pants and Alexander Wang showing off embroidered leather versions for Balenciaga, this trend will take you from day to night and beyond. In preparation for spring, I advise you to get started on your crunches. Now.

2. Wide-leg trousers are the new silhouette du jour.
I’m not saying you have to throw away your skinnies, but this is one flattering trend you’ll want to keep in rotation. Pair them with everything from a cropped sweater and metallic oxfords to a matching blazer and sexy stilettos.

3. Candy colors are pretty, girly, and complement every complexion.
Choose a favorite – lilac, mint, peach, lemon, or baby blue – or wear several at once. Because, let’s face it: who doesn’t want to look like a macaron?

4. Fringe is in.
And I’m not talking about the boho type. Next season, fringe will be sexy and sophisticated. Whether it’s little touches like at BCBGMAXAZRIA or a full-on fringe flapper-esque dress as seen at Calvin Klein, this is one super-easy trend to incorporate into your wardrobe.

5. Slip dresses are making a comeback.
The slinky 90s staple will be reinvented this spring with neon versions, chiffon overlays, sexy slits, digital prints, and even iridescent paneling. For extra coverage, pair them with a boxy cropped jacket or belted cardigan.
