It doesn’t matter if Sox home games for the World Series wrap up in a speedy two and half hours, or if they’re 18-inning marathons, the MBTA will be taking fans home.

An email sent from MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo said “fans who take the subway to Fenway will be able to take it after the final out, regardless of when the game ends.”

The Sox host the St. Louis Cardinals tonight and Thursday for the first two games of the World Series, before heading to the Midwest. First pitch tonight is at 8:07 p.m. EST. If necessary, the two teams will play at Fenway Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Early-morning service won’t be restricted to just Kenmore and Fenway stations, on the Green Line’s B and D lines respectively, Pesaturo said. “All subway lines,” will offer fans early-morning transportation.

“MBTA personnel will closely monitor ridership, and dispatch trains accordingly.”

Hey, if it turns out people like when the MBTA doesn’t hit the hay early, maybe this will become a more permanent option? Just a thought. Either way… either way.
