In a strong show of support for State Rep. Marty Walsh‘s bid for Boston Mayor, female proponents packed Old South Church on Bolsyton Street for the ‘Women’s Rally for Marty Walsh’ courtesy of Walsh endorser and former mayoral candidate Charlotte Golar Richie.

Challenger John Connolly, Boston City Council member, has had a stranglehold on women voters throughout the entirety of the race, as per the polls, through his intent on bolstering women’s positions in the workplace amongst other areas. Earlier this month, Connolly polled 14 percent higher than Walsh amongst women; and 36 percent better with black women voters than Walsh.

Showing just how much Walsh has closed the gap in this area, it’s important to note that he’s received endorsements from not only Golar Richie but also State Senate President Therese Murray, State Senator Linda Dorcena Forry, LGBTQ activist Arline Isaacson, and the 100-plus women who showed up yesterday for the cause.

At this point it’s less than two weeks until election day on November 5 so we’re sure to see each candidate pull out all of their last stops. Currently it looks as though those might be in the realm of positive vs. negative campaigning with both sides alleging the other is spitting slander, with the Connolly campaign having supposedly made anonymous calls dissing Walsh, and Walsh distributing flyers that paint Connolly in a negative light.

Stay tuned to Bostinno for the latest details of the from the Mayoral race.
