“A Day in the Life” is a series where we’ll profile a variety of residents to get an intimate glimpse into their day-to-day. These are your neighbors. Get to know them.

If you haven’t experienced the latest fitness cycling sensation at Flywheel in Boston, it’s probably because you simply haven’t heard of it yet. Fortunately for Boston residents, the recently opened indoor spinning studio has arrived in Boston’s Back Bay just in time for cold weather. We talked with Flywheel Co-Founder Ruth Zukerman, the entrepreneur, fitness instructor and driving force behind  the rapidly expanding fitness company.

Prior to becoming a certified indoor cycling instructor, she attended school at nearby Mount Holyoke College. In 2006, the fitness instructor co-founded the first exclusive indoor cycling studio in New York City, and later teamed up with Jay Galluzzo in 2010 to co-found Flywheel Sports. The rest, as they say, is history. The company has expanded across the country into South Florida, Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, Los Angeles and more. Here’s how the very busy entrepreneur, and mother, spends her day.

How do you spend most mornings?

I am typically scheduled to teach a morning Flywheel class six out of seven days a week. I am very consistent with my pre-class routine which consists of having a protein shake and a small serving of oatmeal two hours before class time. After that I either create or revise my playlist depending on my current state of mind. Then, I’m ready to go – although I never leave my apartment without making my bed!

What is the worst part and the best part about your typical day?

The worst part is teaching a class and the best part is teaching a class! Running a fast-growing business can be stressful and tiring so when it comes time to teach, I question how I’m going to pull it off. Then I get up on the Flywheel instructor podium, the lights dim, the music begins and I feel better (and stronger) than ever.

What are the top priorities on your to-do list right now?

I recently purchased a new vacation home and I am working on getting everything organized. I have to start from square one as I will soon be closing and moving into an empty house which is a bit overwhelming! I’m making lots of lists and deciding on top priorities. I cannot wait to spend time there with friends and family once it is done!

What would you do if you were suddenly granted a day off from work tomorrow?

Not much! I would stay in comfy clothes all day and nest!

What’s one TV show you can’t live without right now?

Homeland. It’s the only show that I watch.

If you could impart one piece of advice on our readers, what would it be?

Make sure you find time for yourself, no matter how hectic your day. Schedule your Flywheel classes in advance. Even if you’re tired and “not in the mood,” try to push yourself because you will feel energized, renewed and more confident at the end of every class that you take.

Why did you decide to open a Flywheel in Boston?

Opening Flywheel in Boston has always been a top priority for us and we had to put in a lot of time searching for the perfect location. We always knew what a fitness-minded community Boston was and honestly, Bostonians have just been waiting for our doors to open. The Prudential Center is a small community within a larger one and we are thrilled to be there.

If you weren’t answering my questions, what would you be doing instead?

I’m doing it – having a mani/pedi!
