Radoslaw Czerkawski, 32, of Poland may have plead not guilty to 11 counts of animal cruelty and one of misleading police but it’ll be tougher for him to shy away from the latest charges being brought against him. The man accused of the brutal mutilation of a pit bull known simply as Puppy Doe is also also wanted for stealing from a church in New Bedford, Mass.

Czerkawski stayed at the St. Lawrence Church church in New Bedford for four months back in 2012. Upon leaving, investigators discovered 11 checks had been stolen from the rectory, 11 checks that were cashed in Czerkawsi’s name and another name according to CBS Boston. The checks amounted to approximately $6,000.

After being arraigned in Quincy District Court yesterday, Czerkawski will head down to New Bedford where he’ll take on the larceny charges.

Puppy Doe was brutally abused beyond saving and vets were forced to euthanize the young, 1-year old pup. The Norfolk District Attorney’s office has been adamant about catching the abuser, putting its website to use by keeping the public informed as to the case’s developments while also entertaining any and all leads that have come their way.

State Senator Bruce Tarr was so touched by the story that he drafted the PAWS act to universal acclaim on Beacon Hill.
