Tonight at 8:07 p.m., the Red Sox will start Game 6 of the World Series against the Cardinals, holding a 3-2 lead and hoping to win their first championship at home since 1918. Rejuvenated veteran John Lackey takes on St. Louis rookie sensation Michael Wacha in what promises to be a very compelling matchup. Each team has rallied when the other has lead in the series so far, and the Cardinals hope to do this once again after dropping back-to-back games Sunday and Monday nights in St. Louis. It’s the first Fenway World Series Game 6 since October 21, 1975, when Carlton Fisk willed his famous walk-off fair, giving the Sox a 7-6 win.

BostInno will be watching all over Boston, including several staffers inside the turnstiles at Fenway Park. See below for live photos and videos from all perspectives:

So far in the 2013 World Series, it’s been extremely hard-fought by both the Sox and Cardinals. After Boston took Game 1 (8-1), St. Louis took the next two games. As mentioned before, the Red Sox handled the next two, edging to a 3-2 lead.

If Boston wins, it will be on the strength of their pitching, which has been largely effective so far in the playoffs. Lackey will be making his third appearance of the Series already, having started in Game 2 and pitched a relief inning in Game 4.

With recent history as an indicator, the game should be hotly contested. Wacha has a 1.00 ERA in 27 innings pitched, with 28 strikeouts (and yes, he’s only a rookie, it’s borderline unbelievable). Lackey has also pitched well, and actually out-dueled Wacha in Game 2, losing his chance at a win only after reliever Craig Breslow couldn’t hold the lead with runners on base.

Regardless, tonight will create lasting images and memories one way or the other, so stay tuned for live updates throughout the night.
