Well folks, by now it’s no secret that President Obama is on his way (via Air Force One) to Boston.  The highly anticipated visit has been met with both excitement and a bit of uncertainty.

Many are psyched to see and hear their President, while others fear that the visit could end up presenting an overwhelming and challenging situation for Boston security personnel, who are also gearing up for the World Series and a Drake concert (it’s not lost on us how awesome of a coincidence that is).

Suffice to say, it’s a big day here in Boston. To help you understand what exactly Obama is doing here, here are 5 quick things you should know about the Obama visit to Boston.

1. According to the White House schedule, President Obama is here to deliver a speech “on the importance of providing all Americans with quality, affordable health insurance and the experience in Massachusetts, which passed its bipartisan health care law in 2006,” reports USA Today. The speech is an effort to improve public opinion about Obamacare and to “encourage people to sign up,” according to the Boston Globe.

2. President Obama is scheduled to speak at 3:55 p.m. ET today at Faneuil Hall. The location is symbolic because it is the same place where, in 2006, former governor Mitt Romney signed the Massachusetts health care reform into law.

3. After giving his remarks at Faneuil Hall, President Obama will head to a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Fundraiser in Weston. According to the Boston Herald, the lineup includes U.S. Representatives John Tierney of Salem, Nikki Tsongas of Lowell and House minority leader Nancy Pelosi, in addition to former Congressman Barney Frank.

4. After the fundraiser, President Obama has supposedly informed Mayor Menino that he “hopes” to leave Boston by 7 p.m. tonight from Logan Airport, but warned that the fundraiser “could run long,” according to The Boston Globe.

5. Will he or won’t he attend the World Series tonight? That is the big question on everyone’s mind. Although we’re not 100 percent positive that President Obama will leave as scheduled tonight, a “potential Obama visit to the World Series Game 6 at Fenway Park is off,” according to the Boston Herald. Boston Police Superintendent in Chief Daniel Linskey told the Boston Herald, “The discussions that would have had to have taken place prior to that happening have not occurred. There is no indication he is going to the game.” Peter Wilson of WBZ-TV also tweeted that the president was not considering attending the World Series game tonight. He will apparently be watching on TV (per the tweet below).

I guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, check out BostInno’s live sights and sounds from the President Obama visit to Faneuil Hall.
