So after last night’s glorious Red Sox win in Game 6, clinching their first World Series at Fenway since 1918, fans celebrated jubilantly into the night. And while a vast majority of celebrations were rowdy, most were harmless. One incident, however, did put a slight damper on the joyous Boston night. Seriously misguided fans on Boylston Street made the always-terrible choice to show their support for the Red Sox by flipping a car. And unfortunately they succeeded, flipping the car into the middle of street.

Here’s the video of crowd idiocy, as they flip the car (some NSFW language):

The truly disturbing part of this was that in the video the off-screen narrator says that people are in the car as it’s getting flipped. This is unconfirmed, but if true, would clearly make it an exponentially worse crime.

Flipping a car is something that can quickly make what should be a purely enjoyable time into a scary and shameful experience. That said, a vast majority of Red Sox fans were content to simply party like normal people, as Boston Police reported only a minimal amount of arrests:

A SWAT team got the whole car-flipping incident on video, and will be looking to catch the perpetrators as soon as possible.

The incident came despite massive precautions taken by city authorities, where they shut down large areas (including Kenmore) around Fenway Park. The effort could be declared largely successful though, since incidents other than the one car-flip were at a minimum.
