The Red Sox have reached the mountain top after clinching the World Series in Game 6 this past Wednesday before a jubilant crowd at Fenway Park, and now get to celebrate with their city in the unique “rolling rally.” Carried atop the famous duck boats, the players and the rest of the Red Sox organization will embark on a citywide celebration, proudly and prominently displaying the hard-won World Series trophy.

Here are some live updates from the Red Sox rolling rally:

For the city of Boston, seeing the Red Sox clinch their third World Series in the last decade had particularly special significance in 2013, as opposed to 2007 or even the mythical run in 2004. In both of the previous 21st century titles, the Red Sox clinched the championship away from Fenway, meaning that fans mostly didn’t get to experience the thrill of the final out in person.

This season, however, the silver lining to losses in Games 2 and 3 of the Series meant that Boston (who had home field advantage) was in a position to win the title in their own stadium for the first time since 1918. After the timely hitting from Shane Victorino, Stephen Drew, and a few others in the Sox lineup, coupled with the sterling pitching from John Lackey and the bullpen, the final out was recorded in Boston.

The crowd, predictably, went crazy, and has barely settled down since. The rolling rally (a tradition now for Boston’s championship teams), will be one final time for Red Sox fans to formally celebrate the Series win. Sadly, it may also be the last time that all of the players from the 2013 Red Sox are together. Nonetheless, if it is their final time all together as a team, it will undoubtedly be a fitting sendoff.
