Election Day 2013 is well underway, with voting hours a little over halfway through. Whether or not you decide to cast your ballot for John Connolly or Marty Walsh, it’s important that you make your voice heard.

So far today, Boston is seeing a high turnout in the election for the first new mayor in 20 years. About 4,000 people registered to vote since the precinct elections took place in September, and numbers from today’s polling places are already rolling in. You can follow the election coverage in real time as it happens with our live blog, and read up on the rest of our #BosMayor coverage here.

With a quick scan through Instagram, it’s clear that those who’ve made their way out to the polls are proud of fulfilling their civic duty — there are plenty of ‘I Voted’ stickers to be seen. But what about those of you who haven’t voted yet? If you think your voice doesn’t matter, or disengage from participating in politics, there’s still issues at hand that will affect your life as a Bostonian. Not to mention, the race is incredibly close.

So if you’re still on the fence about whether you want to partake in a historical election and help shape the future of our generation, here are some photos and tweets from the polls and the campaign trail over the past two days that are sure to give you some classic voting day FOMO. In case you needed any more motivation to get yourself to the ballot, you can hail a Hailo to get you there at a discounted price.

The polls close today at 8 p.m., Boston: get out there and #flockthevote.
