In his first appearance as Boston’s mayor-elect, Marty Walsh will take to Boston Commons, near the corner of Beacon Street and Park Street, to host a press conference and engage with members the press this afternoon at 12 pm. Walsh emerged victorious in a hard-fought, though, respectable mayoral race against John Connolly, beating the City Councilor by a slim margin of 3-points.

Connolly conceded to defeat, speaking in front of his innumerable supporters at the Westin Copley Plaza Hotel where he congratulated Walsh, thanked those in his corner, and vowed to continue striving to make Boston an overall better place in his capacity as Councilor At-Large.

Walsh spoke with both President Barack Obama and Mayor Tom Menino, who congratulated the State Representative and former union official on being the latter’s first successor in 20 years.
