A year after resigning his role as creative director of Balenciaga, fashion designer Nicolas Ghesquičre is rejoining the ranks of the employed. After months of speculation, Louis Vuitton announced that Ghesquičre would be their new artistic director of women’s collections. The position was recently vacated by Marc Jacobs, who is rumored to be preparing his namesake line for an IPO. He had previously been with the brand for 16 years.

Louis Vuitton isn’t in the dire straits that Balenciaga was when Ghesquičre took the helm there in 1997, but the storied French fashion house is due for a shake-up. Lucky for everyone, he’s definitely the right man for the job.

If his contributions include anything like the super-coveted leather motorcycle bags and jackets he designed at Balenciaga, I’d better start saving now.
