What if I told you there was a perfectly acceptable excuse to stuff your face this month besides your upcoming Thanksgiving meal? And by stuff your face, I mean indulge in a 12-course “blowout dinner” and tasting event that is happening right here in Boston on November 21st. The event will be hosted by Harvest’s Pastry Chef Brian Mercury and Executive Chef Mary Dumont, so you know it’s sure to be a delicious undertaking. Not to mention, all proceeds will go directly to the charity, Lovin’ Spoonfuls.

The OverKill a.k.a. shameless pig-out will happen at the Cambridge Boat Club just a few days before Thanksgiving. The event will throw together 13 Boston chefs and 3 craft cocktail bartenders to create an extravagant one-of-a-kind OverKill of a meal.

The chefs will include Brian Mercury and Mary Dumont of Harvest, Jaime Davis of Deuxave, Will Gilson of Puritan, Monica Glass of Clio, Carolyn Johnson of 80 Thoreau, Christina Mercado of Finale, Irene Li & Max Hull of Mei Mei, Alex Saenz of Lineage, Heather Schmidt of Union Square Donuts, Dave Schneller of Canary Square, Meghan Thompson of Steel & Rye, Brian Young of Post 390.

So basically a handful of your favorite chefs in Boston all cooking under one roof. And the bartenders are no less exceptional. According to a release, guests will be served a “creative craft cocktail punchbowls by three of the city’s favorite bartenders” including Kelly Unda of Harvest and Citizen Public House & Oyster Bar, Stephanie Lauria of Daddy Jones, and Tanita Macy of Abby Lane. This no-brainer event is selling tickets for $150, which in my opinion is a steal for the amount of quality food and drinks you’ll be served.

Too good to be true? Not according to Chef Brian Mercury who simply insists that the OverKill event is a seamless collaboration between some of Boston’s best. The chef states in the release that “it all just came together. I wanted to create a benefit for Lovin’ Spoonfuls – they bring the community together, and we are proud to be a part of that and wanted to see what more we could do. I made a few phone calls and it’s a pretty amazing line-up of chefs who are coming together, donating their time and product, and working in tandem to create 12 savory and sweet courses for this one night.”

Personally, I think this event is win-win for all. Not only do the chefs get to showcase their cooking skills for charity but we, Bostonians, get to indulge in OverKill while giving back. Buy your ticket here and prepare yourself for OverKill.
