Wellesley-based  Shuttersong announced Tuesday it has raised $875,ooo in a second round of seed funding. The round was led by existing angel investors from the law firm of Bingham McCutchen LLP and Webloyalty.com C0-founder Vincent D’Agostino, as well as serial entrepreneur Jere Doyle. In addition to the company’s initial investment last February, Shuttersong has now raised a total of $1.7 million in funding.

Designed by CEO William Agush and developed by local dev shop Find & Form, Shuttersong launched at the end of September. The mobile app is available on Apple’s App Store and allows users to embed 15-second music and sound clips into JPEG image files.

The image can then be shared via Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, email or SMS and can be viewed natively or in a Web browser. As a result, there is no download required to view a Shuttersong.

“The funds will fuel the development of our Android app, as well as enable us to pursue revenue-driving partnerships with brands and digital marketing agencies,” Agush told BostInno in an email. “We’re focused on building the next great digital marketing tool.”

Since its release, Shuttersong has enjoyed some encouraging success with more than 25,000 downloads. Even some professional athletes have taken to Shuttersong recently, including Red Sox ace John Lester and local PGA wunderkind Keegan Bradley.

“Shuttersong has tremendous potential as a vehicle for brands to communicate with their customers and share content in a simple and creative way,” said D’Agostino in this morning’s release. “Shuttersong’s ability to capture both sound and image unlocks a whole new world for marketers and is primed to make waves in the digital marketing space.”

The Shuttersong advisory board includes executives from AOL, Brilig/Merkle, Constant Contact, DoubleClick, High Start Group, Ideeli, YP.com, Microtouch, Snickleways and AEG.
