I’ll admit it. In the mornings, I opt for the escalator over the stairs (unless I’m feeling really ambitious, but in high heels, that’s a rarity). For a free subway ride, however, I might just reconsider – which is exactly what Moscow officials are hoping Russian commuters will do this winter.

In preparation for the upcoming Sochi 2014 games, a Moscow subway station has installed a squat-driven kiosk that issues a free ticket for any passenger who can perform 30 squats in two minutes.
